Michaël Buckingham
Graphic & Motion Designer | Next-Gen Identity Animation
My journey started far from design. I lived in Mauritius, Australia, and now call Austria home. Life often felt uncertain, and I didn’t always know my next step. It took me years, experiences, setbacks, and a career switch to get here.
In fact, when I started, I didn’t even know how to switch on a Mac. For years, I worked in labour jobs. Honest work, but I knew those skills wouldn’t carry me when I moved to Vienna. Even though I’d studied art in high school, I never really had the chance to use it. So I made the leap. I studied communication design, but rejection was what truly pushed me to grow. Instead of giving up, I taught myself mixed reality, then 3D animation, and finally immersive design. I also use AI but only as my hammer. Sure, I could tap the nail with my hands, but why not build smarter, faster, sharper? It’s been messy, uncertain, and sometimes brutal. I’m still a work in progress, curious and humble enough to keep learning. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
